Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: Sumathi Sudharsan, the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) of the Common Service Centre (CSC) at Calicut in South Andaman, has received the National CSC Award for the second time after being recognised among the country’s top-performing Village Level Entrepreneurs for digital service delivery.
She received the award and a Certificate of Appreciation on July 17 during the CSC Diwas celebrations held in Kolkata. The recognition was conferred for her performance as one of the Top Transacting Village Level Entrepreneurs in the country.
The award recognises her contribution to delivering digital services through the Common Service Centre network, which functions as a citizen service platform for government and other public services.
According to the Administration, the recognition reflects the role of the Common Service Centre ecosystem in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in strengthening digital governance and expanding citizen-centric public service delivery at the grassroots level.
At present, 117 Common Service Centres are operational across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These centres provide residents with a single-window platform to access government and other essential services through information and communication technology-enabled service delivery centres located within their local areas.
The Administration stated that the CSC network currently provides 116 government services belonging to 15 departments of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, improving access to public services while enhancing efficiency, transparency and citizen convenience.
The implementation of the Common Service Centre initiative across the islands has also reduced the need for citizens to make repeated visits to government offices for routine services.
According to the Administration, the centres have enabled faster processing of applications, certificates and utility payments by making multiple public services available through digitally enabled service delivery points closer to local communities.
The latest national recognition for a Village Level Entrepreneur from the islands comes as the Common Service Centre network continues to serve as a key platform for delivering government services and expanding digital access across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
