MP Bishnu Pada Ray Engages Island Youth at Viksit Bharat

Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, on 28th November participated as the Chief Guest at the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament organised at Andaman Law College, an event that brought together students from across major higher education institutions in the islands.

The programme witnessed active participation from students of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, DBRAIT, Andaman College, the Medical College and several other technical institutes, alongside senior professors and faculty members from their respective campuses. The gathering reflected a wide cross-section of island youth engaging in deliberations centred on national development and democratic participation.

Addressing the students, Ray shared his views on the role of young citizens in nation-building, underlining the importance of informed participation, responsibility and innovation in shaping India’s future. He encouraged the participants to look beyond academics and become active contributors to the country’s progress, while also working towards the inclusive development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The interaction focused on the broader vision of a “Viksit Bharat,” highlighting how youth-led ideas, leadership and engagement can strengthen democratic institutions and policy discourse. Students were seen actively engaging with the themes of governance, development and public service that formed the core of the youth parliament.

Ray also acknowledged the efforts of the Andaman Law College administration and faculty for organising what he described as a purposeful and inspiring platform for young minds. He noted that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing political awareness and leadership skills among students.

The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament added to a series of academic and civic engagements in the islands aimed at fostering dialogue between policymakers and the younger generation, reinforcing the growing emphasis on youth participation in shaping the future trajectory of the region.
