Beach Games–2025 to Promote Mass Sports Participation Across Island Territory

Date:

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, will organise Beach Games–2025, a three-day sporting event aimed at promoting sports excellence and encouraging mass participation among youth and the general public across the islands. The event will be held from December 19 to 21, 2025, and is open to both men and women under the Open category.

According to official information, competitions will be conducted at two locations. Events at Corbyn’s Cove will begin daily from 3 pm onwards, while parallel competitions will take place at Karmatang Beach in North and Middle Andaman. The Games are expected to draw participation from government and private schools, colleges, institutions, youth clubs and members of the general public.

The Beach Games–2025 will feature a diverse range of disciplines, including Beach Volleyball, Beach Kabaddi, Beach Tug of War, 50-metre and 100-metre Beach Sprints, Beach Football (7-a-side), Beach Sepak Takraw, Beach Mallakhamb and Beach Pencak Silat. The multi-sport format has been designed to encourage broad-based participation while showcasing traditional and emerging beach sports.

For events scheduled at Corbyn’s Cove, interested participants and teams can collect entry forms from the Administration Block of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (Room No. 3), Netaji Stadium, Sri Vijaya Puram. There is no entry fee for participation. Completed entry forms must be submitted on or before December 19 by 2.30 pm to the event organisers at Corbyn’s Cove Beach. Match fixtures will be drawn at 3.00 pm on the same day.

Discipline-wise coordination has been arranged to ensure smooth conduct of events. Separate organisers have been designated for each sport, including Beach Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, athletics sprints, football, Sepak Takraw, Mallakhamb and Pencak Silat, with contact details provided by the department to facilitate participant coordination and clarifications.

Meanwhile, the Karmatang Beach leg of Beach Games–2025 in North and Middle Andaman will host competitions across the same disciplines over the three days. A press release issued by the Divisional Forest Officer, Mayabunder, stated that the event is expected to attract large crowds, with sports enthusiasts and local residents gathering to witness the competitions.

Officials said the initiative reflects the administration’s focus on grassroots sports development, community engagement and the use of natural coastal settings to promote outdoor sporting culture. By hosting the Games at prominent beaches in both South Andaman and North and Middle Andaman, the department aims to widen access and participation beyond urban centres.

The Beach Games–2025 also align with broader efforts to encourage physical fitness, teamwork and youth engagement through competitive sports. With free entry, open categories and multiple disciplines, the event is positioned as an inclusive platform for aspiring athletes and recreational sportspersons alike.

The administration has appealed to residents, youth organisations and sports lovers to participate in large numbers and support the event, which is expected to add vibrancy to the island sports calendar while highlighting the potential of beach-based sports in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
