Persistent traffic congestion along the Junglighat road has prompted a temporary change in the route of ATR Express bus services, with authorities aiming to ease travel delays and ensure smoother movement of public transport in the area.
According to an official advisory, heavy congestion has been observed on the Junglighat stretch, leading to increased travel time for motor vehicles, including scheduled express bus services. In response, ATR Express services operated by the State Transport Services will now be operated via VIP Road instead of the Goalghar–Junglighat route.
The decision has been taken specifically to decongest the Bengali Club–Goalghar–Junglighat corridor and to enable more efficient operation of express buses, which had been facing frequent slowdowns and schedule disruptions due to mounting traffic pressure on the existing route.

Commuters who have already booked tickets and were intending to board from locations between Middle Point and Junglighat have been advised to make alternate boarding arrangements. Such passengers may now board ATR Express buses from either the Bus Terminus at Sri Vijaya Puram or from the Dairy Farm Junction.
Transport officials indicated that the diversion is aimed at managing peak-hour pressures and improving reliability of express services, particularly for passengers travelling longer distances. Junglighat road remains one of the busiest corridors in the town, handling a mix of local traffic, commercial vehicles and public transport, making it vulnerable to congestion during working hours.
Regular commuters have often cited prolonged bottlenecks along the stretch as a recurring concern, especially during mornings and evenings. The rerouting via VIP Road is expected to offer a smoother alternative until traffic conditions improve.

Authorities have urged commuters to take note of the revised boarding points and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience. While no timeline has been specified for the continuation of the diversion, officials said the situation will be reviewed based on traffic movement and commuter feedback.
The advisory forms part of broader traffic management measures being undertaken to cope with increasing vehicle density in the town, even as longer-term solutions such as traffic regulation and infrastructure upgrades continue to be discussed.
