Counselling for ANM Course Set for July 31; Candidates Must Carry Original Documents

Sri Vijaya Puram: The Directorate of Health Services has announced the counselling schedule for admission to the two-year ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) course, with the process set to take place on July 31, 2025. The counselling will be conducted at the auditorium of the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram, beginning at 10 am.

The announcement follows the release of the final merit list, which is available on the Common College Admission Portal (CCAP) at collegeadmission.andaman.gov.in and the notice board of the ANM Training School. Candidates shortlisted for the counselling are required to report in person on the scheduled date and time with all relevant original certificates and a set of photocopies for document verification.

Officials have clarified that physical presence during counseling is mandatory. Absentees will not be considered for admission and will also be excluded from the waiting list. The merit list ranks candidates based on their academic performance and eligibility criteria set by the Directorate.

The ANM course is one of the key healthcare training programs aimed at strengthening primary health services in the Union Territory, particularly in remote and rural areas. Selected candidates will be trained in community health, maternal care, immunisation practices, and basic clinical procedures.

Authorities have urged candidates to carefully follow the instructions provided on the official website and in the notification to avoid disqualification. Those attending the counselling are advised to arrive on time with required documents, including proof of age, educational qualifications, domicile certificate, category certificates (if applicable), and recent passport-size photographs.

The ANM Training School functions under the Directorate of Health Services and plays a pivotal role in building a skilled nursing workforce in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The selection process is competitive and transparent, conducted annually through the online CCAP system. Successful candidates will undergo two years of formal classroom training, practical exposure in government health facilities, and fieldwork assignments.

The counselling process not only verifies documents but also serves as the final step before the selection list is prepared. After counselling, selected candidates will receive admission confirmation and instructions regarding course commencement, uniforms, hostel arrangements (if available), and training modules.

ANMs are often the first point of contact in rural healthcare systems, and their role is considered crucial in immunisation drives, maternal and child health care, and disease surveillance.

For candidates, this counselling date is a crucial step toward securing a place in a government-recognised training institution, opening pathways to both public and private sector employment.
