ANIIMS Announces Third Round of MD/MS Counselling for 2025–26 Admissions

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) has invited applications for the third round of counselling for admission to MD and MS postgraduate courses for the academic year 2025–26. The counselling process is scheduled to be held on January 11, 2026, and will focus on filling leftover vacant seats under the State quota.

According to the official notification, a total of four postgraduate seats remain vacant across select disciplines. These include one seat each in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Ophthalmology. No vacancies have been reported in General Surgery and Anaesthesiology for this round. Eligible and interested candidates have been advised to apply specifically for these remaining seats through the prescribed online process.

ANIIMS stated that the detailed counselling schedule, eligibility requirements and application procedure are available on its official website. Candidates are required to submit their applications online through the designated portal before appearing for counselling. The institute has also advised applicants to regularly check the official website for updates related to the counselling process, as no separate individual communication will be issued.

The third round of counselling will be conducted on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Administrative Block of the ANIIMS New Campus located at Corbyn’s Cove. Candidates must report at the venue by 9 am on the day of counselling. Attendance in person has been made mandatory, as seat allotment and document verification will only be carried out for candidates who are physically present during the counselling session.

Applicants have been instructed to bring all original certificates and documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies for verification. The institute has clarified that failure to produce the required documents or absence from the counselling venue at the stipulated time will result in forfeiture of candidature for this round.

As per the counselling procedure, candidates will be called strictly in order of merit. Seats will be offered based on availability at the time each candidate is called. Once a seat is allotted, the decision will be final for that round, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria and successful document verification.

ANIIMS officials indicated that the third round of counselling is being conducted to ensure optimal utilisation of available postgraduate medical seats for the current academic session. The institute offers MD and MS programmes as part of its effort to strengthen specialist medical education and healthcare services in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Candidates seeking admission have been urged to carefully review the eligibility norms and counselling guidelines before applying. Any discrepancy in information or documentation may lead to disqualification at the time of counselling.
