Sri Vijaya Puram, October 16: Eligible voters in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including young residents approaching voting age, will have an opportunity to enrol or correct their electoral details under the Election Commission of India’s Special Summary Revision (SSR), with the final voter list scheduled for publication on January 4, 2027. The exercise will use January 1, 2027, as its qualifying date while also accepting advance applications from people who turn 18 on later qualifying dates during the year.
The Election Commission has included the Andaman and Nicobar Islands among 17 states and Union Territories covered by the revision programme. Gujarat’s Chief Electoral Officer has urged eligible citizens, particularly first-time voters, to register their names or seek corrections within the prescribed deadlines.
The draft electoral roll will be released on November 12, beginning the period for claims and objections. Eligible citizens can submit applications or raise objections until December 11, after which the authorities must dispose of them by December 28. The final list will follow once the claims and objections process concludes.

The schedule also requires authorities to complete the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations by November 2. The revision aims to ensure that citizens who attain the age of 18 by January 1, 2027, can enter the electoral roll, while the claims and objections process provides an opportunity to correct existing entries.
The Commission will also accept advance applications from people who will turn 18 on April 1, July 1 and October 1, 2027. This allows prospective voters who meet the age requirement on these subsequent qualifying dates to apply ahead of becoming eligible.
Besides Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Gujarat, the exercise covers Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
The ECI said it would announce separate schedules for states and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is nearing completion or remains underway. It will also issue separate arrangements for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, taking anticipated weather conditions into account.
The revision provides eligible residents in the islands a defined window to register, check their details and seek corrections before authorities publish the final electoral roll.
