Island Footballers Eye Glory at National School Championship

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 13: A 20-member U-19 boys football team from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands has set its sights on national glory as they depart for Imphal, Manipur, to participate in the prestigious 68th National School Football Championship.

Led by coach Ahmed Ali and team manager Nehemiah Thomas, the squad received a rousing send-off at Netaji Stadium, where Director of Education Vikram Singh extended his blessings and words of encouragement.

The tournament provides a high-stakes platform for the island’s budding footballers to showcase their skill and resilience on a national stage, an opportunity many players view as a stepping stone toward professional careers in the sport.
