Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 7: The Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank Ltd has reviewed measures to strengthen its financial position, improve recovery of outstanding loans and expand banking support across urban, rural and geographically remote areas, at its 61st Annual General Body Meeting held on October 3, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Gouranga Dutta, Chairman of A&N State Cooperative Bank Ltd, and attended by Vice Chairman Nand Kishore Singh, members of the Board of Directors, representatives of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), affiliated apex, central and primary cooperative societies, senior officials and bank staff.
Managing Director Abhinav Pal, while welcoming the delegates, outlined the bank’s role in extending banking facilities to people across different parts of the islands. He said the institution continued to focus on support for farmers, fishermen and small traders, while giving importance to developments in banking and information technology.

The management highlighted efforts to mobilise deposits and improve recovery of outstanding loans as part of measures aimed at strengthening the bank’s financial position and supporting sustainable growth.
Pal also informed the General Body about several institutional measures undertaken by the bank. These included the engagement of Financial Literacy Centre (FLC) counsellors for three districts, a cooperative intern, a recovery officer, a legal consultant and a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
The bank has also revised its loan policy and relaunched loan facilities for customers in accordance with applicable guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
In his keynote address, Dutta referred to the challenges faced by the bank and credited the collective efforts of its affiliated cooperative societies, customers and well-wishers for enabling the institution to move towards growth and development. He said suggestions raised during the meeting would be considered in efforts to advance the bank.
The General Body also held an interactive session between members and the bank’s management to discuss upcoming programmes and formulate a future roadmap.
Proceedings began with a two-minute silence in memory of former Managing Director K. Murugan. The meeting subsequently included the traditional lighting of the lamp and presentation of bouquets to the chairman, vice chairman and board members.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Raghubir Singh, General Manager (Banking), in-charge, A&N State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
