Applications Open for ST Scholarships in Andaman for 2025-26 Academic Year

The Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has invited applications from eligible Scheduled Tribe (ST) students for both fresh and renewal scholarships under three schemes for the academic year 2025–26. The schemes include the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (both under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme), and the Additional Scholarship Scheme (under the Union Territory Scheme).

As per the notification, the last date for submission of online applications is December 31, 2025, for all three schemes. Verification of defective applications, institute-level verification, and DNO/SNO/MNO-level verification have been scheduled for January 15, 2026.

For the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes, the annual parental income of applicants from all sources must not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh. However, under the Additional Scholarship Scheme, all ST students who are domiciles of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible to apply irrespective of income ceiling.

Eligible students have been advised to submit their applications online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in under the State Scheme – Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The scholarships available include the Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students, and Additional Scholarship for ST Students.

Students are also instructed to ensure that their Aadhaar details are linked to their current bank accounts and registered mobile numbers to avoid any delay or failure in the disbursement of scholarship funds.

To assist applicants in completing the online submission process, dedicated helpdesks have been established in all schools and colleges across the Islands. These helpdesks will support ST students in navigating the NSP portal and ensuring proper documentation and timely submission.

Additionally, a central helpdesk has been set up at the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, located in the Secretariat Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram. This helpdesk will cater to students and institutions requiring additional support or clarification regarding the application and verification process.

The Directorate has urged all eligible ST students to come forward and avail the financial assistance provided under these schemes by the Union Territory Administration and the Government of India. The scholarships aim to encourage educational advancement among the Scheduled Tribe community and support students in continuing their studies without financial hindrance.

The initiative forms a key part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to improve access to education and empower the tribal population of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Eligible students are encouraged to complete their applications within the stipulated timeline to ensure timely processing and disbursement of benefits.
