A&N Police Plan Open Volleyball Tournament at Corbyn’s Cove

The Andaman and Nicobar Police has announced plans to organise an open volleyball tournament at Corbyn’s Cove Beach during the last week of December 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles and positive community engagement.

The tournament is being organised under the community outreach initiatives of the police department, which regularly conducts sports and recreational activities to encourage discipline, teamwork and well-being among police personnel as well as the general public. The proposed event is expected to provide a common platform for interaction between the police and local youth through organised sports.

According to the press release, the volleyball tournament will be open to all, with participation invited from government departments and private youth clubs. No entry fee will be charged for participation, making the event accessible to a wide cross-section of teams interested in competing.

Participation in the tournament will be limited to the first 16 teams that register, on a first-come, first-served basis. This cap has been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of matches and timely completion of the event. All matches will be played in a knockout format, adding a competitive edge to the tournament.

Each participating team will be required to submit details of six main players and three substitutes, along with the name of the team manager, making a total of nine members per team. The organisers have emphasised the importance of completing the registration process within the stipulated timeline to avoid last-minute complications.

Teams interested in participating must submit their details on or before December 25, 2025, by 5 pm. Registrations are to be submitted to designated police officials whose contact details have been provided by the department. The police have clarified that registrations received after the specified date and time will not be accepted unless approved by the competent authority.

The tournament will follow rules and instructions issued by the organisers, and all teams will be required to adhere strictly to these guidelines during the event. This, officials said, is necessary to maintain discipline, fairness and safety throughout the competition.

Prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners and runners-up, providing recognition to teams that perform well in the tournament. While the competitive element remains central, the broader objective of the event is to promote sportsmanship and encourage community participation in healthy recreational activities.

Corbyn’s Cove Beach, a popular public location, has been chosen as the venue to ensure visibility and accessibility. The beach setting is expected to add to the appeal of the tournament and draw interest from both participants and spectators.

Through initiatives such as this volleyball tournament, the Andaman and Nicobar Police aims to strengthen trust and engagement with the community, particularly youth, by using sports as a means of positive interaction. The event is expected to contribute to fostering a sense of camaraderie while reinforcing the message of fitness and healthy living.
