Sri Vijaya Puram: A Hindi language workshop was organised at the Police Headquarters auditorium on June 18, aimed at encouraging greater use of Hindi in official work across the Andaman and Nicobar Police Department. Officers and staff from various units of the force actively participated in the training session.
The workshop was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police (Police Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar Meena, who underscored the importance of Hindi as the country’s official language. In his opening remarks, he urged officers and staff to make the most of the training and contribute to strengthening the implementation of the official language within the department.
Calling for wider usage of Hindi in daily administrative tasks, Meena encouraged police personnel to lead by example and help establish the department as a model in official language compliance. He noted that consistent use of Hindi in routine operations would play a significant role in achieving the government’s language policy goals.
The valedictory session was graced by Superintendent of Police (Fire and Emergency Services) Sunny Gupta, who expressed satisfaction over the department’s efforts to promote Hindi literacy and usage. Addressing the participants, he stressed that adhering to official language rules is not optional but mandatory. He also encouraged attendees to apply the learning from the workshop in their day-to-day government duties.
As part of the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to participants in recognition of their successful completion of the training. The sessions included detailed lectures by Mohan Das, Senior Translation Officer, and Ajay Singh, Junior Translation Officer, who covered practical and procedural aspects of using Hindi in official communication.
The workshop was coordinated and conducted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Establishment) Anila Sanjay, who also welcomed the dignitaries and facilitated the proceedings throughout the event.
Officials believe such capacity-building initiatives will help streamline internal communication, strengthen compliance with Rajbhasha guidelines, and improve the overall efficiency of departmental functioning.
