The Andaman and Nicobar Administration marked a high-profile presence at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 in New Delhi, securing multiple national-level honours for its pavilion and standing out amid intense competition from states, union territories, central ministries and private exhibitors from across the country.
Held from November 14 to 27, the IITF 2025 brought together 31 States and Union Territories, 61 Central Ministries and more than 2,000 exhibitors, positioning it among India’s largest platforms for trade, innovation and public outreach. Against this expansive backdrop, the Andaman and Nicobar Pavilion emerged as a key attraction, earning recognition for its overall presentation, design quality and commitment to cleanliness.
The pavilion was conferred the Award for Excellence in Display, the Swachh Pavilion Award and a Special Appreciation Medal, underlining a strong showing across aesthetic, thematic and operational parameters assessed by the organisers. The awards reflected a combination of creative presentation and adherence to national cleanliness benchmarks promoted at such large-scale exhibitions.
The honours were presented during a formal ceremony attended by senior representatives of national institutions associated with trade infrastructure and aviation. On behalf of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Secretary (Rural Development) Rajesh Chopra received the awards, marking official recognition of the Union Territory’s efforts at the national level.
The Andaman and Nicobar Pavilion sought to present the islands’ identity through a blend of natural landscapes, cultural heritage and messages around sustainable development. Visitors were offered a snapshot of the islands’ unique ecological character, traditional practices and development priorities, packaged through curated visuals and thematic displays designed to appeal to a diverse national audience.
Participation at IITF has increasingly been viewed by the Union Territory administration as an opportunity to project the islands beyond tourism imagery, positioning them instead as a region balancing environmental sensitivity with development initiatives. The multiple awards at IITF 2025 indicate that this approach resonated with evaluators and visitors alike.
The recognition also assumes significance in the broader context of competition at national exhibitions, where states and union territories invest heavily in pavilion design, storytelling and visitor engagement. With thousands of exhibitors vying for attention, awards at IITF are often seen as benchmarks of effective public communication and institutional coordination.
Officials indicated that the pavilion’s emphasis on cleanliness and sustainability aligned with national campaigns, while its visual storytelling aimed to reinforce the islands’ identity as a region with fragile ecosystems and distinct cultural traditions. The Swachh Pavilion Award, in particular, highlighted adherence to waste management and hygiene standards throughout the event.
The performance at IITF 2025 adds to the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s ongoing efforts to leverage national platforms for greater visibility and institutional branding. Such exhibitions provide opportunities to engage investors, policymakers and the general public, while also allowing smaller regions to present their narratives alongside larger states.
With the conclusion of IITF 2025, the awards are expected to strengthen the administration’s case for continued participation in national trade and exhibition platforms. The recognition is also likely to inform planning for future exhibitions, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and effective presentation of the islands’ developmental priorities.
