The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has begun migrating its official websites and digital applications from the old domain andaman.gov.in to a new address, andamannicobar.gov.in. Officials confirmed that the transition will take place in phases, with the final round of migration scheduled for September 5, 2025.
The change affects a wide range of government websites and online services. Authorities explained that downtime has been scheduled for certain applications during the migration window, after which they will be accessible only through the new domain. Users have been advised to note the updated links to ensure uninterrupted access to government services.
Among the applications shifting to the new domain are education portals, employment platforms, health department systems, payment gateways, and law enforcement services. Some of the key services include the Directorate of Education’s School Student Information System (SISDEN), School Infrastructure Monitoring System (SIMS), PAHAL Plus, Teachers Recruitment Portal, and college admission portals.
The health sector will see the migration of the Drug License Portal, Medicine Dash, and Medboard application. Online citizen-facing services such as the e-FIR system, missing person application, and the Citizen Portal of the police will also move to the new domain. The Andaman Law College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) websites are part of the scheduled migration, alongside portals for industries, fisheries, cooperative societies, and the Port Management Board.
Authorities clarified that downtime will vary by application. For instance, Andaman Law College’s website is scheduled for a 12-hour downtime from 8 pm on September 5 until 8 am on September 6. The college admission portal will undergo a longer transition, with downtime extending for 24 hours from September 5 evening until September 6 evening. The e-district application, a key platform for accessing various public services, will be offline for 48 hours starting at 6 pm on September 5 until 6 pm on September 7.
The Electricity Department’s online services, including Vidhyut, Urja Pay, the Unified Solar Rooftop Portal, and the inventory management system, are also part of the migration. During scheduled downtime, users will not be able to make payments or access these applications.
Officials stressed that once the transition is complete, all applications will only be accessible through URLs ending in andamannicobar.gov.in. They advised citizens, government staff, and institutions to update their records and bookmarks accordingly. The new domain aligns with the full official name of the Union Territory, reducing ambiguity and ensuring uniformity in digital governance.
The Administration noted that the transition has been planned in phases to minimise disruptions and ensure smooth continuity of services. Technical teams have been tasked with overseeing the process and addressing any issues that may arise during the migration.
For island residents who increasingly rely on online platforms for education, health services, employment, and governance, the migration marks a significant step in the expansion of e-governance. While temporary downtime may inconvenience some users, officials emphasised that the long-term benefits of consolidation and improved service delivery will outweigh short-term disruptions.
Citizens are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new domain name and ensure they are accessing authentic government websites at andamannicobar.gov.in.
