The Electricity Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has announced a revised load-shedding schedule following the addition of 3 MW of generation capacity. The department stated that while power shortages persist due to limited generation, the new schedule is expected to bring some relief to residents across Sri Vijaya Puram and surrounding regions.
In an official notice, the department informed the general public, all government departments, and private organizations that load shedding would continue due to the ongoing shortfall in generation capacity. However, with the integration of an additional 3 MW, a new area-wise tentative load-shedding schedule has been implemented effective November 3, 2025, and will remain in force for 30 days.
The revised schedule outlines batch-wise power cuts, specifying affected areas, time slots, and feeder names during day, evening, and night hours. The department clarified that the duration and timing may vary depending on available power generation and technical constraints.
Night Hours (0000 hrs – 0600 hrs)
Power supply will be alternately interrupted in regions including Garacharma, Junglighat, Medical, Nayagaon, Mohanpura, Dairy Farm, Delanipur, Coast Guard Enclave, Lamba Line, Brookshabad, Dugnabad, Supply Line, and Hopetown. Key establishments such as the BSNL Telephone Exchange, Police Headquarters, Secretariat, Raj Niwas, and GB Pant Hospital are also covered within various batches during the night schedule.
Day Hours (0600 hrs – 1800 hrs)
Morning and afternoon load shedding will affect central areas such as Junglighat, Aberdeen Bazaar, Dairy Farm, Lamba Line, Supply Line, Delanipur, Nayagaon, and Prothrapur. The Coast Guard stations, Phoenix Bay, Haddo Wharf, and the Airport area are also scheduled to experience periodic outages.
From 1200 hrs onwards, regions like Shoal Bay, Ferrargunj, Dollygunj, and Tiger area will face interruptions, followed by the Outer, Nayagaon, and Delanipur zones during early afternoon hours.
Evening and Late Night (1600 hrs – 2300 hrs)
The evening schedule includes Haddo, Minnie Bay, Prothrapur, Coast Guard, and Garacharma areas, extending to R-II, Megapode, Supply Line, and Shoal Bay later in the night. The final batch between 2200 hrs and 2300 hrs covers Lamba Line, Brookshabad, Delanipur, Shoal Bay, Calicut, and Ferargunj, while the midnight batch (2300–0000 hrs) includes Haddo, Prothrapur, and Hopetown regions.
The department emphasized that the schedule is purely tentative and subject to revision based on real-time generation capacity and technical issues. Officials also urged all consumers to conserve electricity and regulate usage, especially during peak hours, to help stabilize the grid and minimize disruptions.
“The inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the department stated, adding that efforts are ongoing to restore normal power distribution as generation improves in the coming weeks.
This revised schedule aims to balance power supply across critical and residential zones while ensuring essential services remain operational despite the generation shortfall.
