Cultural evening marks finale of Police Raising Day events

The 74th Andaman and Nicobar Police Raising Day celebrations concluded with a cultural evening organised at the Police Lines, marking the culmination of a series of commemorative events. The programme featured the traditional Badakhana and a range of cultural performances presented by police personnel, reflecting a blend of artistic expression and institutional spirit.

The cultural evening unfolded as a celebration of talent and camaraderie within the police force, with performances drawing participation from personnel across ranks. The programme opened with a Ganesh Vandana dance, setting a ceremonial tone for the event and signalling the beginning of the final leg of the Raising Day celebrations.

This was followed by a sequence of performances that included comedy skits incorporating social themes and elements of lawful conduct, solo song and dance presentations, and a cultural drama that resonated with the audience. The variety of performances reflected the diverse talents within the force and highlighted the role of cultural activities in fostering unity and morale.

A performance by the Andaman and Nicobar Police Brass Band formed a key segment of the evening, with the band’s musical presentation receiving strong appreciation from those in attendance. The programme also featured a Sufi medley and group dance performances, showcasing cultural diversity and artistic coordination among participating teams.

Senior officers were present at the event, underscoring institutional support for such initiatives. The cultural evening served as an opportunity to recognise not only professional dedication but also creative expression within the police force. The participation of personnel in non-operational activities was seen as contributing to team cohesion and a sense of belonging.

During the event, welfare-related announcements concerning police personnel were also made, highlighting ongoing administrative efforts aimed at improving service conditions. These included initiatives related to career progression, welfare commitments, and continued focus on operational excellence, particularly in areas such as coastal security and recruitment.

The Raising Day celebrations provided an occasion to reflect on the role of the Andaman and Nicobar Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring internal security in a geographically dispersed and strategically significant territory. The cultural programme added a human dimension to the celebrations, offering a platform for expression beyond routine duties.

The Badakhana, traditionally associated with police and military gatherings, symbolised fellowship and shared identity within the force. Its inclusion as part of the closing ceremony reinforced the collective spirit that underpins institutional functioning.

The cultural evening concluded the 74th Raising Day celebrations on a note of festivity and reflection. The event underscored the importance of balancing professional responsibilities with activities that promote morale, cultural awareness, and unity within the police force, marking the end of the celebrations in a spirit of togetherness and appreciation.
