Andaman & Nicobar Karate Team Wins Medals at 4th Khelo India Open International Championship

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ Karate students secured medals at the 4th Khelo India Open International Karate Championship 2026, held on January 3 and 4 at Ala Mohan Dass Indoor Stadium, Howrah, West Bengal. The event was organised by the Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation and featured participation from teams across Indian states and international contingents.

Representing the islands, the Karate Dojo team competed in multiple categories, including Kumite and Kata, and earned recognition for their performance with both medals and certificates. The medal-winning participants included K Aardhya, A Vanshika, A Pavithran, Ankit Kishen, R Roshan Reddy, R Roshini Reddy, Disha Bhowmick, Lalit Jha, J Shivesh, and Chintala Kaviya.

The championship drew competitors from diverse regions, fostering an international platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills and gain exposure in competitive Karate. For the Andaman and Nicobar contingent, the tournament provided an opportunity to showcase their proficiency at a national and global level.

Participants were assessed based on technical execution, precision, and overall performance in their respective events. The island team’s success reflects the growing standard of Karate training and sports development initiatives in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, highlighting the dedication of both the students and their coaches.
