The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has issued a fresh order reallocating work among senior IAS officers following a recent transfer directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs and recommendations of the Civil Service Board of the Union Territory.
According to Order No. 107 issued by the Secretariat on January 16, the competent authority has approved new postings and allocation of responsibilities with immediate effect. The changes come in the wake of MHA Transfer Order No. 14020/04/2022-UTS.I dated January 4, 2026, which necessitated administrative adjustments within the UT cadre.

As per the order, Purva Garg (IAS, AGMUT: 2015) has been posted as Secretary. In addition to the secretarial role, she will also serve as Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman. The order specifies that she will continue to hold the previous charges assigned to her until further instructions are issued.
Jyoti Kumari (IAS, AGMUT: 2018) has also been posted as Secretary and has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor. Like her counterpart, she will continue to discharge her existing responsibilities alongside the newly assigned charge until further orders.
The order was issued with the approval of the competent authority and is based on the recommendations of the Civil Service Board of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which plays a key role in postings and service-related matters of All India Service officers in the UT.
Administrative reshuffles at the senior level are closely watched in the islands, as IAS officers play a central role in policy implementation, district administration, and coordination between the UT administration and the central government. The latest reallocation is expected to streamline administrative responsibilities following recent cadre movements ordered by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
