Fresh details have emerged in the Andaman hotelier Niyamat Ali’s case, with sources confirming that all four suspects arrested in connection with the case belong to the Andaman Islands.
According to sources, one of the arrested individuals is a resident of Shadipur in South Andaman, while the other three are alleged to be students from Andaman pursuing studies in mainland India. Out of the four, one is believed to be a woman, though officials have not disclosed her name or academic details pending further investigation.
The revelation of strong Andaman links has added a new dimension to the case, which had earlier focused on personal enmity and potential business disputes. With all suspects traced back to the Islands, investigators are now probing whether Ali’s disappearance was the outcome of a pre-planned act involving local connections rather than an isolated conflict in Chennai.
Ali, who ran a hotel business in Sri Vijaya Puram, went missing shortly after arriving at Chennai Airport. His family has alleged that he was killed the same day, though they maintain there has been no formal confirmation from authorities.
Those familiar with the investigation noted that the involvement of students raises questions about whether the group acted independently or was influenced by larger interests. The case has unsettled the business community in the Andaman Islands, with many expressing alarm at the fact that those accused of being involved in the crime are from the same region as the victim.
Ali’s family, meanwhile, continues to appeal for clarity, urging both mainland and Andaman & Nicobar authorities to make investigation details public. “The truth needs to come out,” his wife, Mandeep Kaur, reiterated in her appeal.
With suspects now identified as hailing from the Islands, the case has become a subject of intense debate in both Chennai and the Andaman community, raising fresh questions about motive, planning, and accountability.
