A 25-year-old man was arrested and 1.375 kilograms of illicit ganja was seized in a targeted anti-narcotics operation conducted at Scout Hut Junction (India Map) in Sri Vijaya Puram on March 21, 2026, according to the Andaman and Nicobar Police.
The action followed specific intelligence inputs indicating that a drug transaction was likely to take place at the location. Police said the accused had arrived at the junction carrying contraband concealed inside a backpack, allegedly to strike a deal. The team conducted a search at the spot and recovered 1.015 kilograms of ganja from his possession. He was taken into custody after the completion of procedural formalities under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The case forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts targeting the movement and distribution of narcotic substances in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Police officials said such operations are based on intelligence inputs and field surveillance aimed at intercepting supply chains at the local level.
