Special electoral roll revision timelines updated for Andaman islands

The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, extending the enumeration period and adjusting subsequent timelines to ensure greater inclusion and accuracy in voter records .

According to the updated schedule communicated by the Chief Electoral Officer of the Islands, the enumeration period, earlier set to conclude on December 4, 2025, has now been extended to December 11, 2025. The extension provides electors additional time to submit the Enumeration Forms distributed by Booth Level Officers during the revision exercise.

As per the revised timeline, the draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 16, 2025. This will be followed by the period for filing claims and objections, which will run from December 16, 2025, to January 15, 2026. During this phase, electors will have the opportunity to seek corrections, inclusion of names or other necessary changes to the draft rolls.

The notice phase, involving issuance of notices, hearings and verification, will take place from December 16, 2025, to February 7, 2026. The final electoral rolls are slated for publication on February 14, 2026, bringing the revision process to completion ahead of upcoming electoral requirements.

Electors who fail to submit their Enumeration Forms by the revised deadline of December 11 have been cautioned that their names will not appear in the draft electoral rolls. Officials stressed the importance of timely submission to avoid exclusion and subsequent inconvenience during the claims and objection phase.

The enumeration exercise is being carried out to ensure that the electoral rolls reflect accurate and up-to-date information, including verification of existing entries and inclusion of eligible voters. Authorities have described this revision as a crucial step in maintaining the integrity and inclusiveness of the electoral process in the Islands.

Electors have been advised to submit completed forms to their respective Booth Level Officers or at designated help desks located at the offices of the District Election Officer and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Political parties have also been urged to cooperate in ensuring maximum participation and awareness among voters.

To assist electors facing difficulties, the Election Commission has made support available through Booth Level Officers as well as the Voter Helpline Number 1950. Voters are encouraged to seek assistance promptly rather than waiting until the last date.

With the revised schedule in place, election authorities have reiterated the importance of public cooperation in completing the Special Intensive Revision process. Timely participation, officials noted, remains essential for creating an error-free, credible and inclusive electoral roll for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
