The Andaman & Nicobar Administration’s opening of financial bids for four major eco-tourism projects, Shaheed Dweep, Long Island, Aves Island and the Megapode Resort in Sri Vijaya Puram, has set off a high-stakes contest among some of India’s most prominent hotel groups. Documents reviewed by The Wave Andaman show that Sreeraj Projects (partnered with Radisson Hotels), Juniper Hotels, and Divya Sree Tarbus Builders have emerged as the most aggressive bidders, signalling deepening private-sector interest in the islands’ tourism economy.
At Shaheed Dweep, considered the flagship project in the eco-tourism package, Sreeraj Projects in consortium with Radisson Hotels submitted the highest quote of ₹10.50 crore, ahead of Juniper Hotels at ₹7.06 crore. Divya Sree Tarbus Builders, bidding across multiple islands, quoted ₹2.70 crore. Other bidders included Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels and H.G. Luxury Hotels in partnership with ITC Hotels. All figures are exclusive of GST and statutory taxes.

The most dramatic number in the entire bidding cycle emerged from Long Island, where Divya Sree Tarbus Builders quoted ₹14.40 crore against a reserve price of ₹1.25 crore. The firm was the sole financial bidder for this project, making it the uncontested frontrunner. Officials familiar with the tendering process said the unusually high quote indicates the developer’s long-term strategic interest in remote-island tourism despite higher infrastructure and connectivity challenges.
Aves Island, another remote location with limited existing tourist infrastructure, received only two bids. Divya Sree once again topped the chart with a ₹2.30 crore quote, while Nucleus Energy, backed by Laxmi Ventures, placed a ₹71 lakh offer. The restrained bidding field highlights the higher perceived risk and capital intensity of operating in the northern stretches of the archipelago.
At the Megapode Resort in Sri Vijaya Puram, one of the most centrally located and commercially visible hospitality properties in the islands, Sreeraj Projects and Radisson emerged as the top bidder with a ₹9.60 crore offer. Juniper Hotels followed with ₹6.07 crore, while Divya Sree quoted ₹5.40 crore. Sarga Hotels submitted the lowest qualifying bid. The Megapode property, known for its prime location and legacy value, is expected to attract significant redevelopment interest under the new concession structure.
The bidding pattern across projects reveals three clear frontrunners: Sreeraj Projects, which has leading bids in Shaheed Dweep and the Megapode Resort; Juniper Hotels, which has consistently placed second on high-value properties; and Divya Sree Tarbus Builders, which has cast the widest net by bidding for all four projects and topping both Long Island and Aves Island. Industry executives said the spread of bids indicates growing confidence among mainland hotel brands that the Andamans will see a calibrated tourism expansion under the Centre’s Viksit Bharat framework.
People tracking the bid process said the next steps will include detailed financial scoring, finalisation of concession terms and issuance of letters of award, subject to all compliance checks. For the islands, the projects are expected to bring a significant expansion in high-end accommodation capacity, new jobs, and increased local business opportunities in transport, marine activities, hospitality services and construction supply chains.
