In light of the recent weather advisories issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and disruption in inter-island connectivity, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has rescheduled the college counselling sessions for multiple undergraduate and teacher education programmes for the academic year 2025–26. This includes both the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) and the Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram.
The decision was made to ensure the participation of candidates from all islands who were otherwise unable to travel due to the rough sea conditions and cancellation of ship services. The updated counselling schedule covers 1,296 undergraduate seats in courses such as B.Sc. (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Home Science), B.A. (English, Economics, Political Science, History, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali), BBA (Tourism), BCA, BPES, B.Com, and B.Sc. Geography. All sessions will be held at designated locations within the JNRM campus between August 4 and August 12, 2025.
Each course has been allocated a specific date, session slot, and venue. For programmes like B.A. in English and Economics where the number of applicants exceeds 600, the sessions have been split into forenoon and afternoon batches. Candidates have been advised to strictly adhere to the published seat numbers and report to the venues accordingly.
Meanwhile, TGCE has also notified a change in dates for counselling of its Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programmes. This includes B.Sc.B.Ed. in Mathematics and Computer Science, and B.A.B.Ed. in English, Hindi, and History. The final merit list was released on July 25 and is available on the official admission portal. Due to expected deteriorating weather from July 25 to July 27 and the cancellation of ship services from inter-island sectors to Sri Vijaya Puram, the counselling dates have now been pushed to August 4 for the B.Sc.B.Ed. course and August 5 for B.A.B.Ed. candidates.
All eligible candidates are required to report by 9:30 AM on the respective counselling dates. They must bring their original documents, a set of photocopies, and the requisite admission fees. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of their seat and consideration of the next eligible candidate on the merit list. Classes for the selected students are scheduled to commence from August 6, 2025, at 8:40 AM.
The Administration’s quick decision to reschedule these sessions underscores its commitment to ensuring equal access and opportunity for all aspiring students across the islands, especially those impacted by transportation and climatic constraints. Candidates have been requested to stay updated with the official notifications and comply with all instructions to secure their admissions without hassle.
