Andaman Administration Reclaims 1,000 Sqm of Government Land

Encroached land clearance

Sri Vijaya Puram | April 8

In a decisive move to safeguard public assets, the South Andaman District Administration has reclaimed 1,000 square metres of encroached government land in Dudh Line village, Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil. The targeted eviction drive underscores the administration’s firm stance against unauthorized occupation and its commitment to preserving public land.

During the operation, the revenue team successfully removed unauthorized fencing and a temporary illegal structure, restoring the land to its rightful status under Government Khata. Officials noted that this action is part of a broader initiative to curb encroachments and uphold lawful land use throughout the district.

The administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal encroachments,” said a senior official.

The reclaimed land is set to be utilized for future development projects and community welfare schemes, ensuring that it benefits the public rather than being misused for private gain.

This initiative highlights the administration’s renewed focus on urban planning and effective land management, especially as unchecked encroachments pose challenges to infrastructure development and environmental conservation.

Residents have been urged to respect government land boundaries and are warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators. The public is encouraged to report any suspected encroachments or irregular land use by contacting the District Control Room at 03192-240127 / 238881 / 1070 or via WhatsApp at 9531888844. The administration assured that all informants’ identities will be kept confidential.

With enforcement measures ramped up, the message is clear: public land is a shared resource, not for private exploitation.
