Sri Vijaya Puram, April 25: A woman has alleged that she was abducted, forcibly intoxicated, and sexually assaulted by a husband-wife duo after being lured out of her residence under the pretext of returning money owed to her. Police have taken the husband into custody, while the wife has been detained for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to the complaint, the survivor had been regularly depositing small monthly savings at a jewellery shop. In December, the accused couple, identified as her former employers, allegedly withdrew her savings citing urgent financial needs, promising to return the amount shortly. On April 21, the woman contacted the female accused seeking repayment. Later that evening, she was called outside her residence and asked to get into their car, with assurances that they would withdraw and return the money.
The complaint states that instead of returning her home, the accused drove her to multiple locations, including an ATM, where only a partial amount was handed over. When she requested to be dropped back, the couple allegedly ignored her and drove to another area, where they purchased alcohol. The woman alleged that she was repeatedly pressured to consume liquor despite her refusal, eventually giving in under coercion.
She further stated that the accused then took her to an unidentified beach, where they continued drinking and prevented her from leaving despite her repeated requests. Later, they allegedly transported her to a residence near Pahargaon, where the assault took place.
In her statement, the survivor has alleged that both accused used force to restrain her, removed her clothing, and physically assaulted her. She further alleged that the husband sexually assaulted her multiple times while the wife assisted in restraining her. The complaint also mentions that the accused threatened her with further harm to prevent her from resisting or raising alarm.
After the incident, the accused allegedly dropped her back home and warned her against disclosing the assault. Upon reaching home, the survivor informed her family, following which she was taken to a hospital for medical examination. The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Police sources confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint. The husband has been taken into custody, while the wife has been detained and is being questioned to ascertain further details and motive. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined.
The case has raised serious concerns about women’s safety, coercion, and abuse of trust, particularly involving known individuals. Police have indicated that strict legal action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
