Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: More than 1,500 participants took part in the ANC Silver Jubilee Half Marathon 2026 in Sri Vijaya Puram, marking 25 years of the Andaman & Nicobar Command with a multi-category running event that brought together defence personnel and the island’s civil community.
Organised by the Air Force Component under the aegis of the Andaman & Nicobar Command, the event featured a 21-km Half Marathon, a 10-km Run and a 5-km Run, with participants competing in different age categories. Defence personnel, their families, sportspersons, fitness enthusiasts and members of the civil community participated in the races.
Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, CINCAN, flagged off the races as the chief guest and later presented awards to the winners and outstanding performers at the conclusion of the event.
The 21-km Open Category saw Anish Majhi finish first with a recorded time of 01:09:10. Iswar Dutt Joshi finished next with a timing of 01:10:40.
The event brought participants from the Armed Forces and the island community onto the same sporting platform, with the organisers describing the programme as a celebration of fitness, endurance and sporting spirit.
The half marathon formed part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Andaman & Nicobar Command. The participation across the different race formats also brought together people from varied sections of the community, including service personnel, families and civilians.
The event concluded with the felicitation of winners and outstanding performers by the CINCAN, formally marking the close of the 2026 ANC Silver Jubilee Half Marathon in Sri Vijaya Puram.
