The family of 52-year-old Anandavalli, who died in a road accident on Tuesday night, has demanded financial compensation and educational assistance for her daughter. They cited emotional trauma and severe financial hardship resulting from her sudden death. Anandavalli’s daughter, who was preparing to move to the mainland for higher studies, is now unable to proceed with her academic plans due to the unexpected financial burden.
The family has also urged authorities to initiate proper legal proceedings without delay and called for strict action against the accused. They expressed concern that the case may be influenced, as the accused, Baby Mathew, is reportedly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Anandavalli sustained critical injuries earlier that afternoon when she was struck by a car while crossing the road near Tagore Government College in the Middle Point area of Sri Vijaya Puram. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries later that night. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Baby Mathew.
As of now, there has been no official update from the administration regarding compensation or the status of legal proceedings. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Statements are currently being recorded, and initial inquiries are ongoing, though further details remain undisclosed.
The incident has sparked concern among community members and civil society groups, who are standing in solidarity with the family and calling for justice. There is also a growing demand for the administration to address pedestrian safety in high-traffic zones like Middle Point and to implement stronger road safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
As the investigation continues, the community’s attention remains focused on ensuring accountability and securing the future of Anandavalli’s daughter through timely intervention and support from the authorities.
