The Civil Aviation Ministry has launched ‘Fare Se Fursat’, a new fixed-fare initiative by the government-owned regional carrier Alliance Air, aimed at reducing the unpredictability of airfares and promoting affordable flying.
Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu inaugurated the scheme on Monday, describing it as a “historic step” to make air travel stress-free and accessible for all.
Under ‘Fare Se Fursat’, passengers will be able to book tickets at a single fixed fare that remains unchanged irrespective of the booking date, even on the day of travel. The initiative seeks to eliminate the uncertainty caused by fluctuating ticket prices, ensuring cost predictability for passengers.
The pilot phase of the scheme will be implemented from October 13 to December 31, covering select routes to assess operational feasibility and passenger response.
“The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme perfectly aligns with the UDAN programme’s core principles,” said Minister Naidu. “Alliance Air is advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of democratising aviation and making it affordable for the middle, lower-middle, and neo-middle classes.”
Highlighting the scheme’s significance, the minister said it addresses one of the major concerns for passengers, the stress of variable airfares. “Since assuming charge, my focus has been on making aviation more people-oriented. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s vision under UDAN, we have introduced Udan Yatri Cafes at airports offering tea for ₹10, coffee for ₹20, and snacks for ₹20,” he said.
Naidu added that ‘Fare Se Fursat’ represents another step towards making air travel more dignified and accessible. “We are taking aviation beyond profitability, focusing on public service,” he said.
Alliance Air, the regional carrier under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, plays a key role in the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)–UDAN, linking Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities with larger national hubs. The minister hailed the airline’s latest move as “the backbone of UDAN,” emphasising its contribution to India’s regional aviation growth.
“Alliance Air has taken a bold and exemplary step with the concept of One Route, One Fare. It truly reflects the spirit of ‘Naye Bharat ki Udaan’, thinking beyond profit and keeping citizens at the centre,” Naidu stated.
India’s aviation sector predominantly follows a dynamic pricing system, where ticket costs vary depending on demand, season, and competition. The ‘Fare Se Fursat’ initiative seeks to counter that model with a fixed-fare framework that promotes transparency and affordability.
