Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25: Ayurveda, healthy dietary practices and responsible waste management were highlighted at an awareness programme organised by the CSL–AN Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU) in Sri Vijaya Puram, with an emphasis on public participation in health and cleanliness initiatives.
The programme was held as part of the 11th Ayurveda Day and the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026. CANSRU organised the event in association with the AYUSH Department and the Directorate of Health Services, Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
Unit Head Sreekanth V inaugurated the programme and delivered the opening address. The awareness session was conducted by Keerthi, Medical Officer (Ayurveda), Directorate of Health Services, who outlined key principles of Ayurveda and explained the role of a balanced diet in maintaining healthy living.
The session also connected individual health practices with wider community responsibilities. Keerthi stressed the importance of citizen participation in initiatives related to health and cleanliness, while drawing attention to waste segregation as an essential practice.
She also explained the relevance of the three Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle — as measures supporting sustainable living. The focus on waste management placed household and community-level practices alongside broader cleanliness efforts under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
The programme brought together CSL employees, DSS employees, CSL trainees, contractors and contract workmen. Their participation reflected the collective involvement of different groups associated with the unit in discussions concerning health, wellness and cleanliness.
The organisers said the programme reinforced the role of Ayurveda in promoting holistic health while highlighting community participation in cleanliness and sustainability efforts under the campaign.
The event combined awareness on traditional health practices with practical messages on nutrition, waste management and responsible resource use, linking personal wellbeing with participation in cleanliness initiatives.
