Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 8: Farmers across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands who have not yet created their Farmer IDs have been urged to complete Farmer Registry enrolment at the earliest, with the Agriculture Department warning that failure to register could result in the stoppage of subsidised fertiliser, agricultural inputs and PM-KISAN benefits from the ensuing Rabi Season 2026.
The Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration, has intensified its island-wide drive to create Farmer IDs and enrol eligible farmers in the Farmer Registry. The exercise seeks to establish a digital identity for farmers and enable access to government schemes, subsidies, agricultural services and other benefits, including PM-KISAN.
Field functionaries are conducting enrolment camps and visiting villages as part of efforts to reach farmers who have not completed the registration process. The department has set 100 per cent saturation of the Farmer Registry as a priority, with field staff directed to expand outreach and ensure that eligible farmers are covered.
The department is also working to resolve difficulties faced during registration. Officials have been instructed to address such issues at the earliest so that farmers can complete the enrolment process without avoidable difficulties.
A specific mechanism has also been outlined for farmers facing discrepancies between their names in the Record of Rights (RoR) and Aadhaar. Such farmers have been asked to collect and duly fill the prescribed application forms and submit them, along with the necessary documents, to the concerned Agriculture Sub-Depot In-Charge. The applications will then be taken up with the Revenue Department to address the name mismatch.
The Agriculture Department has asked all eligible farmers who have yet to create their Farmer IDs to approach their nearest Agriculture Sub-Depot and complete the Farmer Registry enrolment.
The department has advised farmers to treat registration as a priority in view of the consequences linked to non-enrolment from the coming Rabi Season. It has also called for cooperation with field functionaries and urged farmers to use the enrolment facilities being provided across the Islands.
The administration’s current focus remains on completing registration of all eligible farmers, while resolving documentation and registration-related issues that could prevent them from being included in the Farmer Registry.
