Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 29: A 17-year-old girl died on August 28 after allegedly consuming pesticide in Diglipur, according to a source, as police examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and allegations raised by her family concerning a police personnel. The girl had been taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Diglipur, after she was reportedly found in critical condition and later died following a deterioration in her condition.
A source said the girl’s condition deteriorated critically on the night of August 28 before she succumbed. Further investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident and the events preceding her death is underway, with additional details awaited.
The case has also drawn allegations from the girl’s family concerning a police constable. According to the source, the family alleged that the girl had faced harassment and mental pressure in connection with her alleged relationship with the police personnel. The source said the family had previously approached police regarding the alleged relationship when the girl was around 15 and therefore a minor. According to the family’s account, discussions with police at that time resulted in an understanding that the two would not be allowed to marry immediately because of her age and that marriage could be considered after she turned 18.

The girl was reportedly found in an under-construction house near her residence after allegedly consuming the pesticide. She was subsequently taken to CHC Diglipur for treatment, where she remained in critical condition before her death.
