Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 21: A special programme for senior citizens and pensioners in Sri Vijaya Puram brought together digital safety awareness, health screening and environmental activities on National Senior Citizens Day, with the Department of Telecommunications focusing on measures aimed at their health, digital awareness and empowerment.
The Office of the Joint Controller of Communication Accounts, Department of Telecommunications, Andaman & Nicobar Circle, organised the programme on Friday at its office premises at Kendriya Sadan, Ranchi Basti, Lamba Line.
Joint Controller of Communication Accounts Arvind Prakash Xaxa presided over the programme. Assistant Controller of Communication Accounts Chavvakula Saptagiri and Senior Accounts Officer Santosh Kanakala were also present and played key roles in the event.

The programme included a Digital/Cyber Crime Awareness Camp, a free health check-up camp, a tree plantation drive and a selfie and photo booth for participating senior citizens and pensioners.
The cyber awareness component focused on digital awareness, while the health camp provided participating senior citizens an opportunity to undergo health examinations and receive health-related information and advice.
Dr Veer Jalandhar Saini and his team conducted the free health check-up camp. The initiative provided medical screening for the participating senior citizens as part of the day’s activities.
The office also conducted a tree plantation drive on its premises. Officers and staff planted saplings and conveyed the message of environmental protection and the need to promote a greener environment. The drive aimed to increase green cover in and around the office premises while encouraging collective responsibility towards environmental conservation.

Assistant Accounts Officer Gopal Khushalani conducted the programme.
Sumitra, Merityamyanthi, Nandlal Debsharma, Jagajivanram Injethi, R Baburao, Bindhyachal Prasad, Kush Prasad, Narendra Kumar Singh, Syed Ali, Vijay Lakra, Harry Bilas Biswas, Tulsiram and B. Rama Rao, along with other officers and staff, attended the programme.
The programme brought together activities covering digital safety, health awareness and environmental protection as part of the National Senior Citizens Day observance for senior citizens and pensioners in Sri Vijaya Puram.
