Pahargaon Police Arrest 19-Year-Old After Suspected Methamphetamine Seizure At Kodiyaghat

Sri Vijaya Puram, August 8: A 19-year-old youth was arrested by Pahargaon Police after officers allegedly recovered 2.70 grams of a suspected methamphetamine-like substance during a routine patrol at Kodiyaghat on Wednesday afternoon, according to information received. Police also seized cash, identity documents and the vehicle in which the suspected contraband was allegedly found.

Sources said the police patrol team noticed a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 parked suspiciously near the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture. During a subsequent check, officers found two persons inside the vehicle and proceeded to inspect it.

The occupants were identified as Adithya Bilung, 19, a resident of OM Nagar, Shadipur, and Abhishek Kumar Singh, who was driving the vehicle.

According to sources, the vehicle search led to the recovery of a brown wallet containing cash, an Aadhaar card belonging to Bilung and a transparent plastic pouch containing a white, stone-like substance. The substance was subsequently weighed and found to be 2.70 grams, sources said.

Police reportedly treated the recovered material as suspected methamphetamine. The substance was sealed and seized as part of the investigation. The seizure also included the wallet, ₹1,650 in cash and the identity card found during the search.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 bearing registration number AN01 L 9342 was also taken into custody in connection with the case. The vehicle and other case property were later brought to Pahargaon Police Station, where the seized items were deposited in the Malkhana for further investigation.

The recovery was made during a routine patrol at Kodiyaghat, with the initial police action following the officers’ observation of the vehicle near the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture, according to the information available.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged possession of the suspected contraband are now being examined as part of the investigation. The role of the persons found inside the vehicle is also subject to the ongoing inquiry.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
