Handicraft Producers Invited to Market Products Through Sagarika Emporium

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 4: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has invited applications from local handicraft producers seeking marketing support through the departmental outlets of the Andaman and Nicobar Emporium, “Sagarika”, in a move aimed at expanding market access for locally manufactured products. The initiative is open to registered Self Help Group Cooperative Societies, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), artisans and individual manufacturers engaged in the production of handicrafts across the Islands.

Interested applicants have been asked to submit their applications in the prescribed format on or before August 19, 2026, along with proposed pricing for their handicraft products. Each application must also include product samples and photographs of every sample in JPEG format for evaluation, acceptance and finalisation of the sale price.

Application forms are available at all outlets of the Andaman and Nicobar Emporium, “Sagarika”, as well as at the office of the Assistant Director (Technical) and the Extension Offices of the Department of Industries located in Sri Vijaya Puram, Bakultala, Diglipur and Car Nicobar.

According to the notification, all applications received will be evaluated in accordance with the established guidelines governing product selection and marketing support. Preference will be given to new, emerging and first-time applicants, particularly artisans and producers from remote regions of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with the objective of widening opportunities for local handicraft manufacturers.

The Department has stated that the notified guidelines dated May 3, 2019, will govern the evaluation process. However, applications found to be in violation of Clauses 9.15 and 9.16 of the Andaman and Nicobar Emporium-Sagarika (ANE-S) guidelines will not be considered. At the same time, Clause 9.14 has been granted interim relaxation by the competent authority.

The initiative is intended to strengthen marketing support for locally manufactured handicraft products through the Government-run retail network while providing eligible producers with an opportunity to showcase and sell their products through Sagarika outlets. The application process also seeks to encourage wider participation from artisans and small producers, particularly those located in remote parts of the Union Territory, by providing access to an established marketing platform.
