Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: The 1 (A&N) Independent Infantry Company of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) conducted an awareness programme on the Government of India’s flagship ‘Make in India’ initiative at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) on Thursday, aiming to familiarise cadets with the objectives of the national programme and its focus on manufacturing, innovation and employment generation.
The session was organised at JNRM College and coordinated by Associate NCC Officer Lt. Dr. Vivek Kumar Sahu, who also delivered the lecture to the participating cadets.
During the programme, Lt. Dr. Sahu outlined the key objectives of the Make in India initiative, explaining that the programme seeks to strengthen India’s manufacturing sector, encourage innovation, create employment opportunities and position the country as a global manufacturing hub.
The lecture also highlighted the sectors identified under the initiative, including automobiles, aviation, biotechnology, defence, renewable energy, textiles and electronics. According to the organisers, the session was intended to provide cadets with an understanding of the scope of the initiative and its role in India’s industrial development.
Cadets were also introduced to the campaign’s guiding principle, “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” which emphasises quality manufacturing while minimising environmental impact. The programme highlighted the importance of maintaining manufacturing standards alongside sustainable industrial practices.
NCC cadets participated actively in the awareness programme, which also saw the presence of Permanent Instructor Staff Havildar Deepak and Havildar Maninder Singh Rajak.
According to the organisers, the programme formed part of efforts to familiarise NCC cadets with national development initiatives and create awareness about policies aimed at strengthening India’s manufacturing capabilities.
The awareness session focused on providing participants with information about the objectives and priority sectors of the Make in India initiative while encouraging greater understanding of its emphasis on innovation, employment generation and sustainable manufacturing practices. The organisers stated that the programme concluded with enthusiastic participation from the cadets.
