CAT Revises Virtual Circuit Sitting Schedule for Sri Vijaya Puram From July 27 to August 7

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 25: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has revised the schedule for its upcoming Circuit Sitting at Sri Vijaya Puram, with the proceedings to be conducted through virtual mode over two separate periods between July 27 and August 7. The revised programme also directs government departments with pending CAT cases to coordinate with government counsel and ensure all relevant records are available for effective representation before the Tribunal.

According to a partial modification of the earlier notice issued on July 22, the Deputy Registrar and Head of Office informed that the Division Bench comprising Suchitto Kumar Das, Administrative Member, and Diwakar Singh, Judicial Member, will hold the Circuit Sitting from July 27 to July 31 through virtual mode.

The revised notification further states that another Division Bench comprising Anindo Majumdar, Administrative Member, and Diwakar Singh, Judicial Member, will conduct the Circuit Sitting from August 3 to August 7, also through virtual mode.

The notification states that fresh applications will also be entertained during the scheduled sittings, enabling eligible matters to be placed before the Tribunal.

Government departments with matters pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal have been requested to contact the Government Pleader or Panel Advocates with all relevant case documents. Departments have also been asked to brief the government counsel in detail so they can effectively defend cases on behalf of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

The communication further requests Heads of Departments to instruct their respective Nodal Officers to remain present before the Tribunal on the dates of hearing along with all relevant records. Their presence has been sought to assist the Government Pleader or Panel Advocate during the proceedings.

The revised schedule supersedes the earlier arrangements notified on July 22 to the extent specified in the latest communication. The Circuit Sitting will continue to be conducted through virtual mode during both notified periods.

The announcement is intended to facilitate the hearing of pending matters as well as fresh applications before the Central Administrative Tribunal while ensuring that departments are adequately prepared with documents and official representation during the virtual proceedings.
