Andaman Enforces Mandatory Voyage Reporting for EEZ Fishing Operations

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 19: Fishing vessel owners and operators holding Access Passes for operations in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) have been directed to submit a mandatory Voyage Report immediately after completing every fishing trip, as the Andaman and Nicobar Administration moves to enforce reporting requirements notified by the Government of India under the Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Rules, 2025.

The Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, has informed all Access Pass Holders operating fishing vessels under the Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Rules, 2025, that the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has notified the prescribed Voyage Report formats through Order No. 1102101/14/2025-Fy (E-26840) dated January 20, 2026.

Under the notified order, every owner or operator of a fishing vessel covered under the Rules is required to furnish a Voyage Report in the prescribed format immediately after the completion of each fishing voyage or trip. The report must be submitted to the Registrar of Fishing Vessels of the State Fisheries Department at the concerned Port of Registry.

In line with these directions, the Zonal Fisheries Office has instructed all Access Pass Holders to ensure that the prescribed Voyage Report is submitted without fail after every fishing voyage. The reporting requirement applies to every completed fishing trip undertaken under the provisions of the Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Rules, 2025.

To facilitate compliance, the prescribed Voyage Report format will be made available for download on the official website of the Department of Fisheries under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Copies of the prescribed format will also be available at the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, for the convenience of stakeholders.

The Fisheries Department has advised all Access Pass Holders to strictly comply with the reporting requirements notified under the Government of India order. The department stated that submission of the Voyage Report is mandatory for fishing vessels operating under the notified regulatory framework governing fishing activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone.

According to the notification, failure to submit the Voyage Report or any violation of the provisions contained in the Government of India order will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Rules, 2025.

The directions form part of the implementation of the regulatory framework governing fishing operations in India’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The reporting mechanism requires fishing vessel owners and operators to furnish voyage details after every trip to the designated Registrar of Fishing Vessels, enabling compliance with the provisions prescribed under the Rules.

The Zonal Fisheries Office has sought the cooperation of all Access Pass Holders to ensure effective implementation of the Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone Rules, 2025, by adhering to the mandatory reporting requirement following each completed fishing voyage.
