A&N Extends Fishing Boat Subsidy Scheme Application Deadline to July 30

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 17: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has extended the deadline for submitting applications under its UT Plan scheme for the construction or purchase of new motorized and mechanized fishing boats, giving eligible fishermen and other beneficiaries additional time to avail financial assistance after requests from the fishing community.

The Department of Fisheries announced that applications under the scheme will now be accepted until July 30, 2026. The extension follows representations received from fishermen across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands seeking more time to complete and submit their applications.

The scheme, titled “Subsidy for Construction/Purchase of New Motorized/Mechanized Fishing Boats”, is being implemented under the UT Plan during the financial year 2026-27. Applications were initially invited through a press note issued on June 23, 2026, with July 15 fixed as the last date for submission. The revised deadline now provides applicants with an additional 15 days.

Under the scheme, the Administration provides financial assistance for the construction or purchase of new fishing boats. General fishermen, unemployed youth, local entrepreneurs, Fisheries Cooperative Societies and Federations are eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of the approved unit cost.

Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Tribe category and Tribal Cooperative Societies of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are eligible for a subsidy of 75 per cent of the approved unit cost under the programme.

The Department stated that eligible applicants include bona fide fishermen, Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries, local unemployed youth, interested entrepreneurs, Fisheries Cooperative Societies, Federations and Tribal Cooperative Societies residing in the municipal and tribal fishing areas of the Islands.

Application forms and detailed guidelines of the UT Plan subsidy programme are available at the Directorate of Fisheries, Zonal Fisheries Offices and Fisheries Sub Stations. The documents can also be accessed through the official website of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.

The Department has advised applicants to submit completed application forms, along with all required documents, to the nearest Fisheries Zonal Office or Fisheries Sub Station on or before July 30, 2026, to be considered under the subsidy programme for the current financial year.
