Sri Vijaya Puram, July 8: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) has invited applications for a short-term skill development programme aimed at creating a trained workforce in sustainable livestock management, with admissions now open for the Livestock Green Management Promoter course under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0.
The 3-4 month training programme, comprising 480 hours, will be conducted at the Animal Husbandry Training Institute (AHTI), Polyclinic, Livestock Farm Complex, Dollygunj. The course has been designed in accordance with NSQF Level 5 standards to equip participants with technical knowledge and practical skills for promoting environmentally sustainable and climate-resilient livestock farming practices across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to the Department, the current batch has an intake capacity of 15 candidates.
The programme focuses on developing skilled professionals capable of promoting green livestock management practices. Participants will receive training in sustainable animal husbandry methods, livestock waste management, renewable energy applications in farms, carbon footprint assessment and advisory services for eco-friendly livestock products.
The Department stated that the training aims to strengthen sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods while supporting climate-resilient farming practices in the Islands.
Applications have been invited from candidates meeting any of the prescribed eligibility criteria. Eligible applicants include those possessing a graduate diploma or equivalent qualification in Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry or Dairy Technology; candidates who have completed the second year of a two-year diploma after Class XII in the relevant disciplines; holders of a graduate certificate with 1.5 years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors; Class XII pass candidates with three years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors; candidates with a previous relevant NSQF Level 4.5 qualification and 1.5 years of experience; or those holding a previous relevant NSQF Level 4 qualification with three years of experience in agriculture and allied sectors.
The Animal Husbandry Training Institute at Dollygunj functions as a Government institution under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and is equipped with infrastructure for delivering NSQF-compliant skill development programmes aligned with regional requirements and national objectives.
Interested candidates possessing the prescribed educational qualifications have been asked to submit their biodata and enrol for the programme by contacting the Senior Veterinary Officer at the Animal Husbandry Training Institute, Polyclinic, Dollygunj, on or before July 17, 2026.
The Department stated that the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to expand skill development opportunities while promoting sustainable livestock management practices and climate-resilient agriculture across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
