New Delhi, May 22: More than 51,000 newly recruited candidates will receive appointment letters for government jobs as part of the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela, marking a continued push to expand employment opportunities across public sector institutions.

The appointment letters will be distributed through a nationwide event conducted via video conferencing, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with and address the beneficiaries. The programme will take place simultaneously at 47 locations across the country, covering candidates selected from diverse regions.

The recruits will be inducted into various ministries and departments of the Government of India, including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and Department of Higher Education, among others.

The Rozgar Mela initiative has been positioned as a central mechanism to accelerate government hiring by adopting a mission-mode approach. Since its launch, a cumulative total of around 12 lakh appointment letters have been issued through 18 such events held nationwide.

The upcoming distribution reflects a continuation of this recruitment drive, which aims to streamline and expedite the process of filling vacancies in government departments. Officials stated that the programme is designed to ensure wider outreach and timely placement of candidates into public service roles.

During the previous edition of the Rozgar Mela held in January, the Prime Minister had highlighted employment generation and skill development as key priorities. He noted that efforts are being made to connect youth with both employment and self-employment opportunities through structured initiatives.

He had also stated that the Rozgar Mela has evolved into a sustained institutional framework for public sector recruitment, enabling large-scale issuance of job offers in a coordinated manner.

In his earlier remarks, the Prime Minister pointed to India’s demographic profile as one of the youngest globally and emphasised ongoing efforts to create opportunities both within the country and abroad. He referred to trade and mobility agreements with multiple nations as avenues for expanding employment prospects for Indian youth.

The government’s investment in infrastructure was also cited as a driver of job creation, particularly in construction and related sectors. Additionally, the expansion of India’s startup ecosystem, with nearly two lakh registered startups employing over 21 lakh individuals, was highlighted as a significant contributor to employment growth.
