Vishwakarma Yojana Boosts Rangat Artisans

Date:

Rangat: Traditional craftsmen in Middle Andaman received a significant boost as a special registration camp under the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Yojana was held at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall in Rangat. The one-day event, guided by AC Vikash Kumar and spearheaded by Deputy Director of Industries, aimed to onboard left-out artisans under the scheme that recognizes and supports India’s traditional craftspeople.

Around 30 artisans representing trades such as carpentry, pottery, cobbling, and blacksmithing attended the session. As a result of the outreach, 11 new beneficiaries were successfully registered on the spot.

Officials from various departments including the Block Development Office and members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions were present to facilitate the process. Artisans were also educated on the scheme’s benefits, ranging from skill training and toolkits to financial assistance and national recognition.

“This is more than a welfare scheme; it is a renaissance of India’s traditional skills. We are committed to ensuring that no deserving artisan is left behind,” said the Assistant Commissioner.

The local administration has announced that more such camps will be organized soon to expand the scheme’s reach. Beneficiaries can contact the local offices or visit the PM Vishwakarma Yojana portal for more information.
